HSA HOTEL GENERAL MANAGER

Job Overview

Ensure guest satisfaction and the efficient operation of the HSA wedding venue, the Barn Venue, the Dirty Cowboy F & B operation and guest rooms (HSA Venues) by supervising operating departments. Assist the owner by continually focusing on achieving HSA venue profitability through revenue generation at both Loma Sol, Dirty Cowboy, the Barn Venue and HSA wedding house. Duties include inventory control of hotel rooms, social media and marketing initiatives, guest satisfaction, and development of efficient processes and employee’s development.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Educational / Work History Requirements (Must meet one of the below to qualify):
    • 2-year college degree and at least 3 years of experience in a hotel room related department.
    • At least 5 years progressive experience in a hotel room related department.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Must be proficient in all Windows Operating Systems.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel / Word / Outlook).

Physical requirements:

  • Long hours sometimes required. Typically, a 40+ hour workweek including weekends.
  • Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.

Mental requirements:

  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling workplace problems in a timely manner (within 24 hours), including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying and resolving the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information, data and basic arithmetic functions.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.

What You Will Be Doing:

General:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming for all operating departments, which include compliance with HSA dress code and wearing a nametag when working
  • Develop job descriptions, assure employees keep on tasks. Ensure recruiting, hiring and training for team members is based on occupancy levels and seasonal needs.
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment that focuses on the guest, through employee development and motivation.
  • Ensure that employees are at all times attentive, friendly, courteous and efficient in their interactions with guests, management and all other employees.
  • Be familiar with S.O.P.’s in all Operations departments.  Ensure that each department is in compliance or has developed an Action Plan for achieving compliance with S.O.P.’s.
  • (If SOPs are not in place, develop as needed.)
  • Assure supplies are in-house for business levels.  Monitor condition of property with regular walk through and feedback to ownership.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the HSA Venue, the Barn Venue, Dirty Cowboy and Loma Sol by supervising and supporting housekeeping, HSA support staff, Food and Beverage operations, suppliers and Accounting.
  • Communicate and/or correct deficiencies in these departments in conjunction with the owner.
  • Hold weekly meeting with accounting leader, sales managers, and HSA Venue operations staff and owners.
  • Meet all Puerto Rico (PR) regulator statutes. Imposed deadlines as needed.
  • Review Accounts in discrepancy, cancellation and deposit returns, monitor hours/payroll, be involved in month end reporting, etc.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with all leaders, employees and owners.
  • Support the all-venue operations departments during peak periods.
  • Assist the Housekeeping team when needed with room inspections and cleaning.
  • Participate in required HSA venue event coverage as needed.
  • Assure guest room check-in is efficient, communicated properly to client before arrival. Guest names should be provided to staff for use of names when addressing. Assure arrival goes smoothly and the guests are greeted by a staff member.
  • Provide a 30-day forecast of HSA Venue occupancy to all departments and ownership. Based on the forecast, determine staffing levels required for all operations; determine opening of Dirty Cowboy operation for events.  Monitor and manage labor hours per week.

Sales:

  • Develop Sales managers, outline job descriptions, assure managers keep on tasks, cover office hours
  • Ensure weekly meetings with Sales front office staff to address any opportunities or challenges.
  • Comply with certification requirements as applicable for this position to include but not limited to: Food Handlers and Alcohol Awareness.
  • Develop and monitor sales goals.
  • Always exceed client expectations. Assure sales office is well presented and clean
  • Daily review of future occupancy to determine pricing on hotel rooms and open website for maximizing revenue capture.
  • Generate revenue generating programs.  Participate in the sales effort by meeting on-site contacts for events, greeting important clients and participating in sales calls with Sales Team members.

Marketing/Media:

  • Develop and follow a marketing plan
  • Annually execute a competitive analysis of other venues and hotels, recommend price increases based on feedback.
  • Weekly meeting with Media consultant to review actions items, monitor proposal status, provide input for all social platforms with current information, pricing, photos, videos or current happenings.
  • Develop offers and promotions.
  • Develop and execute a plan for target markets based on needed occupancy and forecast.
  • Develop relations with PR organizations to help promote the HSA Venues. Attend activities that help broaden knowledge of HSA.  This list includes government groups, association, wedding planners, DMC etc.
