History of Property
Though born in the United States, Greg Jackson spent most of his young years in Europe, living in Belgium and attending school in England. It was here that he was first introduced to the world of horses. Greg and Linda’s love of horses is deep rooted in each of them. They met one another in high school and at the time both had been riding hunters and jumpers for years already. The two of them married and their lives continued to be centered around their love of horses, with Greg going into the horse transportation business, then buying a farm that Linda managed. They then began breeding and training horses, providing 200 horses a year for El Comandante Race Track in Puerto Rico.
However, in 1989, Mother Nature came with a vengeance in the form of
Hurricane Hugo, flattening the rolling horse farm. When Greg and Linda Jackson began rebuilding their ravaged horse ranch after the storm, they put together their creative juices to give rise to Hacienda Siesta Alegre, an extraordinary and unique home that is a stunning mix of Mediterranean and Caribbean colonial style with rustic décor and a bit of the great outdoors – indoors. The couple turned debris into décor by taking fallen trees from the rainforest and other casualties of Hugo and incorporating the wood into the house’s design and furnishings.
This sprawling mountaintop ranch has been reincarnated as a shining example of nature at its best. The rolling horse farm and event venue’s name, Hacienda Siesta Alegre, makes perfect sense in Greg’s view and loosely translates to a ranch where it is pleasant to nap. “This is such a peaceful and tranquil place to be. The name really says it all.”
