Entertainment

All forms of entertainment play well at Hacienda Siesta Alegre- from Trios to Big Bands – but here are a couple of our favorites that we think highlight Puerto Rican culture and the uniqueness of a Hacienda:

Cigar Rollers

Make your event in Puerto Rico an utterly unique and memorable experience by hosting a live cigar rolling exhibition. Our master cigar rollers will excite and entertain your guests while demonstrating the art of cigar making.

Folkloric Dance Exhibition

Puerto Rico has a rich culture whose origins can be traced back to native Taino, Spanish and West African roots. The traditional music and dance is a melding of these influences and is very unique and exciting. Exciting, award winning revues featuring native folkloric music and dance. Swirling skirts and colorfully costumed performers dance to the Puerto Rican rhythms of yesterday and today, all choreographed to tell visitors all about our island of enchantment and its culture.

Vejigantes

A vejigante is clown-like character in Puerto Rican festival celebrations (mainly seen in Carnival time). Today, vejigantes wear brightly colored, ornate masks of all colors and a costume with bat-like wings. Brilliantly colored costumed with outlandish folk masks. They will greet your guest and provide interactive entertainment at your event.

Paso Fino Exhibition

The splendor and pride of the Caribbean, its beauty and courage, are traits that describe its people, its colors and its passion. Yet, no exponent of this culture boasts all these more vividly than the regal Paso Fino, the smoothest riding horse in the world. Truly designed by Puerto Rico‟s history, (with roots in Spain, followed by four hundred years of selective reproduction) this magnificent equine is unique for its smoothness, nobility and stunning beauty. At Siesta Alegre, we feature this Caribbean wonder, surrounded by the Paso Fino’s natural habitat and by the people who love him for what he is: one of the island’s national emblems and patriotic symbols.

Save the Horses Dressage & Horse-Jumping Face-Off

The horses used are recently rescued by Save A Horse Puerto Rico off of the Racetrack and are in process of being rehabilitated and trained to become riding horses.  A small introduction will be given about the disciplines of Dressage and Puissance and the stories of the participating horses and then an exhibition competition will be staged.  Puissance is French for “power,” and the riders will take part in one of the purest forms of the jumping discipline, where there are successive rounds of horse and rider clearing an ever-higher vertical wall. The Dressage provides an important tool in the training and discipline of the horses and will demonstrate the beauty and intricacy of the horse’s steps.

Lechón

The crowning glory of Puerto Rican cuisine is lechón, or roast suckling pig. Slowly roasting a pig on a rotating spit over an open pit with coal has become an art form. The process takes hours and a lot of preparation.  It’s the popular choice for any large gathering, and certain restaurants draw lines of hungry families when they break out their lechón. It’s a time consuming process to prepare, but when done right, a good lechón delivers a smoky, delicious, carnivorous feast.
